Changing Lives
The following are results of the work of Waypoint staff, Board of Directors and Board of Trustees to ensure that Waypoint continues to meet the needs of the families we serve.
Waypoint Critical Services:
- Provided shelter, food and supplies to 1,011 women and 1,553 children in need.
- Provided domestic abuse and sexual assault counseling, advocacy and support to 1,101 new victims.
- Provided 8,074 safe, overnight shelter stays.
- Helped 78 homeless women identify 255 personal goals that addressed their barriers to self-sufficiency. 91% were achieved or in progress upon exit of the shelter.
- Led 70 training sessions for homeless women on topics including financial management, nutrition and wellness, legal services, parenting, education, careers and mental health.
- Provided education and prevention about dating and sexual violence, domestic abuse, and healthy relationships to 4,407 students and community members throughout Linn, Jones and Benton counties.
- Responded to 1,856 calls on crisis lines from domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
- Facilitated weekly domestic violence and sexual assault support groups for 231 women and children.
Waypoint Child Care Services:
- Provided $216,922 in financial assistance to the families of 96 children to ensure that these children were cared for in a safe and nurturing environment in our child care programs.
- Provided a new free preschool program to 20 children in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Community School District.
