During the past year, the Waypoint management team, the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees have seen the organization grow.  At the same time, we were finally able to close the book on the 2008 flood recovery and begin a new focus on our future as a multi-service nonprofit agency.

While Fiscal Year 2011 was challenging due to the economy, we experienced record growth in enrollment in our Child Care Services Division.  At the same time, the child care leadership team has continued their quality improvement efforts to provide outstanding nurturing and learning environments for over 600 children we serve each day.

Our critical services programs continue to grow and adapt to the needs of our clients and the community.  The Madge Phillips Center programs expanded the scope of services through a federal Homeless Prevention/Rapid Rehousing grant that we managed for the City of Cedar Rapids.  Through our administration of that grant we have learned how important it is to focus on homeless prevention by providing financial assistance to help families obtain housing, along with providing supportive services that help them to sustain their freedom from homelessness.  A community effort to develop new strategies to keep individuals and families out of shelters and support their efforts for sustainable housing is ongoing. 

The closure of the domestic violence shelter in the fall of 2009 brought many positive changes to our services for victims of domestic violence.  We are now able to provide more community outreach, better solutions, and supportive services for our clients.  The number of clients served in all of our programs has continued to increase and we have been able to meet the demand.
