Waypoint Seeks Volunteer Victim Advocates
Waypoint is seeking new volunteers for our Volunteer Advocacy program. Volunteers in this position will answer the Waypoint 24/7 Crisis and Support Line and provide emergency advocacy to victims of violence in area hospitals. Individuals must complete the free 32 hour training provided by Waypoint. The next training session has been scheduled:
- Monday, January 25 / 5:30 - 9:30 pm
- Wednesday, January 27 / 5:30 - 9:30 pm
- Thursday, January 28 / 5:30 - 9:30 pm
- Saturday, January 30 / 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 pm
- Monday, February 1 / 5:30 - 9:30 pm
- Wednesday, February 3 / 5:30 - 9:30 pm
- Thursday, February 4 / 5:30 am - 9:30 pm
Training topics include: confidentiality; short-term crisis intervention; empowerment techniques; myth-busters on the cycle of violence; victims' rights; and more.
