Donor Spotlight: Amelia Greif, age 5

Five year old Amelia Greif has attended the Waypoint Uptown Kids Child Development Center for the past three years. During this time, Amelia has thrived in preschool and she and her mother, Sharie, have grown close to the staff. According to Sharie, “We feel like they are a part of our family.”

When the Greif’s received a letter from Waypoint about how they could help change the life of a family in need, Sharie asked Amelia if she thought they should donate some money to help families at Waypoint. Amelia was immediately on board.

“I asked her if we should give her school some money to help the kids who can’t afford to go there,” Sharie said. “She said she wanted to give some of her money and pulled $6 out of her piggy bank.”

Sharie knew this was very generous for Amelia because she had been refusing to spend her money to save for a trip to visit China, where she was born. When Sharie told Amelia that $6 was very generous, Amelia said in response, “But I want to help my friends at school because they are my friends, even when we fight, and I want to help them so they will be much more happier.”

Amelia has learned early of the value of giving to others. On behalf of her friends at Waypoint, we wish to thank Amelia for her gift.
