CREATIVE CURRICULUM®
RiverRidge Kids utilizes the Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers® and the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos®. The main ideal set forth by this curriculum is that children learn best through a combination of directed and self-initiated play and exploration.
Infants and Toddlers (birth to age 2 ˝):
The term "curriculum" may seem too formal to use in reference to infants and toddlers. The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos® however, simply creates a framework for how we: 1)learn from and interact with each child and family, 2)create a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment, 3)promote health and safety, and 4)plan and evaluate our program. This framework allows us to foster the development of social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language skills in each and every child.
Preschoolers (age 2 ˝ to 5):
At this age, a child's abilities may become a bit more sophisticated, but their basic needs remain the same. The Creative Curriculum grows with them, while maintaining a focus on developing social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills. Weekly themes are used to expand the children's learning on a variety of topics. These themes are incorporated into the classroom's learning centers and focuses on the core concepts of literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, and technology.

POLICIES and PROCEDURES
No Longer an AEGON Employee
If a parent is no longer employment by AEGON, they may keep their child at RiverRidge Kids until the current contract period ends (contracts renewed annually in conjunction with the school district's academic school year).
Priority for Enrollment
The priority for enrollment of children at RiverRidge Kids shall be as follows, as space and scheduling permit: 1) Children of LI or AEGON Realty Advisors employees; 2) Children of contracted independent agents of LI or other AEGON companies; 3) Children of employees of Waypoint; and 4) Children from the community. Children from families who have a currently enrolled sibling will have a higher priority than children from families who have no other child currently enrolled.
Nutrition Policy
Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily at RiverRidge Kids. The price for meals is included in the weekly tuition rate. Food is catered by Waypoint.
Weather Policy
Severe weather conditions or emergencies may merit sudden or early closing for the safety of the children, parents and staff. Waypoint reserves the right to close, requiring the children to be picked up during, or in anticipation of severe weather. Please listen to local radio stations or go to our web site for closing information.
Drop-off/Pick-up Procedure
When dropping off your children, you MUST sign them in. This is also a good time to tell the teachers about an extracurricular event, or the temperament that your child may be in that particular day. You MUST also sign your child out when you come to pick him/her up. When you pick up your child you can gain essential information about your child's day.
Absence Policy
It is imperative that you notify the child care program staff if your child will not be attending that day. Please call your child's room or site at least one hour prior to the time your child was scheduled to arrive.
Health and Safety Policy
One of the primary goals of Waypoint's Child Care Programs is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all children enrolled. In order to do this, we ask all families to keep their children home if they are ill. If a child becomes ill while under our care, we ask that you be prompt in picking him or her up. Please see your Site Director for the detailed list of illness guidelines.
Identification Procedure
Any time a staff person is not familiar with a person authorized to pick up a child from a child care program, the staff will ask for photo identification prior to releasing that child. Safety is our primary concern.
Transportation Policy
Routine transportation to and from child care is not offered by any Waypoint program. In the event of an emergency, 911 will be called, and an ambulance will transport the injured child to the emergency room if deemed necessary by medical personnel. Transportation is provided by Waypoint for field trips away from the Center with the parent's authorization.
Parental Access Policy
Waypoint has an open door policy for all parents who have children enrolled in a child care program. This means parents have unlimited access to their children and to the provider caring for their children at any time. We encourage parents to drop in or visit any time the program is in operation.
