KidsPoint Child Care Programs serves over 550 children every day through two Learning Center & Preschools, 11 Before & After School Programs, and multiple Summer Day Camps in Cedar Rapids. The programs offer research-based curriculum and compassionate teachers to ensure that children reach their full potential. Because Waypoint believes everyone deserves access to quality, affordable child care, we are one of the few licensed centers to accept financial assistance from the Department of Human Services (DHS) and also offer a Waypoint Sliding Scale-Fee Program for families who do not quality for DHS assistance, but cannot afford to pay full tuition. Accepting families on financial assistance allows for parents like Jaymie to ensure her children are accessing quality care while she continues to work toward achieving her goals.

Jaymie, a hard-working single mother of 5, was able to enroll her children at a KidsPoint Learning Center & Preschool with assistance from DHS. Prior to working with KidsPoint, finding affordable child care was nearly impossible as she was not receiving child support and was supporting her family off her income alone, making it very difficult to move forward at her place of employment. Waypoint’s Family Support Specialist was able to work with Jaymie over the next year to set goals for her and her family, enabling her to transition from DHS assistance to Waypoint’s Sliding Scale-Fee. The Sliding Scale-Fee allowed Jaymie to accept promotions at work and avoid facing setbacks or having to remove her children from care when she lost assistance from DHS because she no longer qualified. The Sliding Scale-Fee Program ensures families like Jaymie’s have access to quality child care, regardless of their income.

Because of supporters like you who believe in the importance of quality early education and school age care, Waypoint can continue to offer child care scholarships to ensure children have access to the resources they need to thrive.
