Jade was severely assaulted by her boyfriend of many years. She ended up in the hospital and a social worker called Waypoint's 24 Hour Resource & Support Line and asked an Advocate to come support her. When the Advocate arrived, she saw that Jade had visible signs of bruising on her face.
A criminal protective order put into place and Jade's boyfriend was ordered out of the home. This created more safety for Jade, however, her boyfriend stopped contributing financially, so she was short on rent and utilities for the upcoming month. Waypoint was able to cover her rent so she could remain in her apartment.
Often times, victims experience evictions after protective orders because the abuser refuses to contribute financially when they are removed from the home. Jade was able to maintain her housing, avoid eviction, as well as stay out of shelter and continued working with Waypoint on moving forward in her life.
