Did you know that according to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women will experience domestic violence within their lifetime? Waypoint developed the Gentleman Campaign© in 2013 an effort to spread awareness about domestic violence. Throughout the month of October, events are held that recognize the individuals, especially men, who are taking a stand with Waypoint to end domestic violence.
For over 30 years, Waypoint has provided domestic violence services to the area and, in recent years, expanded to seven counties in Northeastern Iowa: Benton, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Jones, and Linn. Waypoint's services are free, confidential, and include emotional support, individual and group counseling, information and community referrals, criminal and legal advocacy, medical advocacy, and a 24/7 Resource & Support Line.
The 6th Annual Benefit Motorcycle Ride is part of Waypoint's larger Gentleman Campaign© raising funds and awareness for Waypoint's Domestic Violence Victim Services Program, which supports seven counties in Northeast Iowa (https://bit.ly/2DKo7ul).
The ride will begin at McGrath Powersports on Saturday, Oct. 13 in Cedar Rapids and travel through the counties served by Waypoint's programs. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with kickstands up at 11:00 a.m.
New colors and styles are available. Orders can be placed online or in-person at Waypoint and must be turned in by October 22. Purchase your shirt today and you will be #HelpingWaypointEndDV!
