Addressing homelessness through housing identification, case management, and rental assistance
Rapid Re-Housing focuses on securing permanent housing as quickly as possible for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The program focuses on housing identification, rent assistance, and case management.
Housing identification can be difficult, especially in areas where affordable housing is limited. The program can assist households with finding safe, affordable housing with landlords who are understanding and supportive. Financial assistance can be used to cover the cost of security deposits and limited rental assistance. Case management focuses on connecting households to other resources and services in the community to address any issues or barriers that may prevent them from maintaining their stable housing.
Waypoint’s Rapid Re-Housing Program serves households that are 50% below the area median income (AMI). The program also offers month-to-month rental assistance based the household’s specific level of need on.
Rapid Re-Housing was developed using the Housing First model, which is “a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness, thus ending their homelessness and serving as a platform for which they can pursue personal goals and "improve quality of life” article excerpt via National Alliance to End Homelessness's website.
